What Are Xero Badges and Certificates for Accountants and Bookkeepers?

You may have seen accountants or bookkeepers advertising their Xero badges and certificates on their website or in their emails or advertising. But what do they mean? What does it mean if you say you are a certified Xero bookkeeper or accountant? If you are an accountant or bookkeeper how do you get Xero badges and why should you get them? If you are a client, why do you care if your bookkeeper or accountant has these badges and certificates?

Why Get Xero Badges as a Bookkeeper or Accountant?

Put simply, these badges increase your reputation as a reliable bookkeeper or accountant who is competent in using Xero. They show your clients that you know what you are doing. To achieve these badges at least one of your staff is required to go through various training courses in Xero Central – the Xero learning centre. Some can be obtained quite quickly and others take more time. One of the key badges is the Xero Advisor certificate which takes the accountant or bookkeeper through an in depth learning programme covering all the key points in the use of Xero. This badge shows you are a certified Xero bookkeeper or accountant. To retain this certificate, it requires you attend regular seminars so that your training is up to date and you are familiar with the new features of Xero. 

What Do Xero Badges and Certificates Mean for Clients?

As a minimum, when looking for a Xero trained bookkeeper or accountant you will want to see the Xero Advisor certificate. This will give you the confidence that your bookkeeper knows how to use Xero. If you are looking for particular specialities in using Xero, such as migration to Xero from another accounting platform or cash management or Making Tax Digital compliance and so on, then look to see if your bookkeeper or accountant has those badges too. This can give you the reassurance you need in knowing your books are in capable hands.
